I grew up in the small Midwestern town of Saint Joseph, Missouri. I was raised by my grandparents on a big farm. At age 4, I was singing country songs for my grandmother's company. I was given a banjo at 7 or 8, and so it would be my first musical instrument. I don't remember doing much with my banjo, but I do remember it hurting my fingers and how infatuated I was with going back to try it again. At age 12, I moved from my favorite pink Casio to learning some songs on a larger electric piano. Self-taught, of course.
At 17, I met David Frederickson and we decided to start a band. We bought pawn shop guitars and a four-track recorder and locked ourselves into our bedrooms 'til we could play and record. Our first band was really pop and we played a few shows. David and I quickly became bored with that band and went back in and started writing songs on our four-track and The Prids were born. In 1998, we added a drummer and keyboard player and the live band hit the Lincoln, Nebraska scene...the rest is that part of history that I just have to keep repeating, so I won't here.
I'm a strict vegan, I do not wear animals or consume them. I am happily married to a musician (of course). I collect vinyl and DJ occasionally. My best friend David and I have been making music and stuck at the hip for 10+ years, I think we were separated for 6 weeks total the entire time. I love touring the country in my band and don't mind being poor because of it. I really really really like flowers. Any kind. Dean Martin is my hero. And alligators scare me almost as much as conservatives.
